Abstract: The present study focuses to investigate the trend in the annual water and sediment discharge for Middle Godavari Basin. Daily data of stream flow and suspended sediment concentration is collected from 19 hydrometric stations. The trend was determined by applying Mann-Kendall and Sen’s slope estimator. The analysis of stream flow revealed that out of 19 stations, 17 stations reported decreasing trend and analysis of sediment discharge revealed that all 19 stations reported decreasing trend. Pettit test is carried out to identify the abrupt change in water discharge and sediment discharge. The present case study would be useful to the policy maker’s for effective management of water resources in the area.
