Abstract: The increase of land reclamation project in Penang due to interest for advancement and frameworks of housing, businesses, and commercials. However, from the dredging activities and reclaimed land will affect the angler’s livelihood in term of their economy, activities, environment, and health. Therefore, this research was conducted to analyse fisher’s perspective about dredging problems. Besides, the researcher wants to identify from anglers perception on how far the dredging activities will affect the ecosystem at surrounding area. Data were taken by using questionnaire instrument that was distributed to five areas in Penang. The questionnaire was classified into various factors including the factor of development, economy, living organism and plant, production, authority, air, and water pollution. Data has been analysed by using IBM SPSS to know the strength relation under each part of the questionnaire in both variables. The result shows that there are no significant differences between factor development, living organism and plant, and production in overall perception level among fishers about dredging problem. Air pollution is the primary factor in angler’s perception about the effects from land reclamation and dredging activities toward ecosystem disturbance. It is because most of the anglers give negative feedback about the loss of wetlands as air filtration give adverse impact on health and increase potential spreading of disease. Hazard in the coastal area caused by environmental change and human actions. As conclusion majority of the respondent, vigorously protest against land reclamation and dredging activities within Penang coastal area that adversely influenced the environment and fishing activities.

Abstract: This research focuses on the leadership styles of top management towards the quality of services in forwarding activity in one of private sector company at Malaysia. Top management plays an important role in variety of leadership style. Leadership style highlighted clearly can boost the motivation of the employees in many aspects. So that the company able to perform better as they have motivated employees which striving towards achieving the desired goals. It is definitely that good manager might bring good employees. This research is focus on transformational leadership styles towards the quality of services in forwarding activity. This research will be held in one of private sector company at Malaysia.

Abstract: This study attempts to predict financial distress companies in the manufacturing sector in Malaysia using PN4 and PN17 companies as the dependent variable and financial ratios and macroeconomic variables as the independent variables. Logit Analysis was used as the analysis procedure. This study found that the independent variables that can be used to predict financial distress companies in the manufacturing sector in Malaysia were total assets turnover ratio, current ratio, net income to total assets ratio and money supply (M2). The findings from the internal validation showed that the prediction model provided a more than 50% chance that the model is accurate. In addition, the findings from the external validation also showed that the model might be able to be used outside the time period that the model was estimated because the overall percentage accuracy were more than 50% for five years before distress. This study provides the prediction model of financial distress companies in the manufacturing sector in Malaysia and it also validate the findings internally and externally. Internal and external validations were seldom conducted in previous studies on the prediction of financial distress in Malaysia due to lack of data.

Abstract: This study evaluates online purchase decision based on TAM model among university students in lesser develope00d areas of northern region of Pakistan. The advancement in technological spread has encapsulated the entire world but still adaptation of certain technological aspects is slow in certain parts of the world as compared to others. This gap in research literature that how despite the widespread use of mobile technology, online purchase is still having a hard time to catch up and the relevant businesses are struggling to make their mark in the e-business market. A framework is developed to establish how online purchase decisions are formulated through the use of mobile technology and internet surfing and a qualitative study is conducted based on semi structured interviews to determine the trend of online shopping on two well-known websites among students of three universities in KPK province of Pakistan. The study is an effort to determines the slow reasons of online purchase trend adoption among young educated population belonging to lesser developed areas of Pakistan.

Abstract: Polypropylene is a versatile polymer used in various consumer products from automotive to home appliances. Polypropylene is usually synthesized from petrochemical-based raw material which makes their waste hazardous to the environment. Eggshell, on the other hand, is highly abundant biodegradable agricultural waste that contains more than 90% calcium carbonate, a common filler used in polymer. This study investigated the effect of adding eggshell as biofiller in polypropylene matrix on its mechanical and thermal properties. The eggshell was first cleaned, heated, grinded, and sieved to 212 µm particle size. Then, the eggshell powder was mixed with propylene using mixer machine at 9:1, 7:3 and 5:5 ratio of polypropylene-to-eggshell. Finally, the composite mixtures were molded using hot press followed by cold press machine. The biocomposite samples were analyzed using Fourier transformed infrared (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and tensile test. FTIR and TGA results proved the presence of calcium carbonate from the eggshell in the sample. The optimum mechanical properties obtained was for 7:3 polypropylene-to-eggshell sample with tensile strain (extension) of 0.01658 mm/mm and tensile stress of 12.714 MPa. The findings of this study showed eggshell as a feasible biofiller alternative that gives good mechanical properties complimented with major environmental advantage due to eggshell waste utilization.

Abstract: This study was carried out to synthesize waste cooking oil (WCO)-based polyol for polyurethane via one-pot epoxidation and hydroxylation reaction. WCO was first pretreated prior to be used to synthesize WCO-based polyol. The effect of concentration of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as oxidant was observed using FTIR and GC-MS intruments and by determination of hydroxyl value (OHV) iodine value (IV). FTIR spectra of WCO-based polyol prepared using 35% hydrogen peroxide shows the formation of OH absorption peak as proof that the reaction successfully converted double bonds in WCO structure into OH. This supported by the increase in OHV from 5.030 (WCO) up to 229.32 mgKOH/g (WCO-based polyol using 35% H2O2). It was found that the OHV increased as the concentration of H2O2 used increased. GC-MS analysis of WCO-based polyol gave the molecular weight value of 597.3g/mol and functionality calculated is 2.44. This study showed that the chosen reaction is suitable for synthesis of WCO-based polyol and WCO exhibit promising potential as raw material for flexible polyurethane.

Abstract: Planning and scheduling is found to be the hardest part of the construction process as they need to deal with uncertainty in the beginning of the project. These 2 factors are interrelated as any mistakes in any of these factors can cause project delay. Thus, thorough planning and scheduling are required to ensure the success of the project. Despite an increased interest in project planning and scheduling, surprisingly, only a few of empirical research on this topic can be found. To deal with this issue, this study aims to identify the constraints of project planning and scheduling in Malaysian construction projects. An initial list of 43 contraints was identified from the literature review. This was followed by a main study comprising a quesstionnaire survey of 205 construction industry practitioners including a diverse range of construction consultancy practice that include Project Managers, Architects, Civil Engineers, Quantity Surveyors as well as contractors. Data obtained were analysed using Relative Important Index (RII) and the Spearman Correlation Coeficient. The analytical result revealed 8 constraints as having the greatest impact on project planning and schedulling. The implication of the findings implies that the organisation should consider the identified.

Abstract: The capacity of container carrier has been evolved since 1956 from 500 TEUs until more than 21,000 TEUs via Ultra Large Container Ship (ULCS). Large vessels benefited the customers from the perspectives economies of scale at sea, but terminal operators and seaport authorities are pushed into potential diseconomies of scale because they must make significant investments such as equipment and nautical accessibility. To react with the current situation, a research was carried out to investigate the main factors that contribute to the containership size enlargement which become a significant parameter for seaport competitiveness. Self-administrated and online survey has been conducted at 3 main seaports including Port Klang Authority, West Port Malaysia and Port of Tanjung Pelepas which consisting of 37 participants. To achieve main objectives of this paper, Exploratory Factors Analysis (EFA) has been employed. The outcome shows that factors that causing vessels enlargement in Malaysian maritime system are including shipping operations, seaport and shipping integrations, cost effectiveness and technological advancement.

Abstract: This research is carried out to examine the impact of intellectual capital by using a measurement of Value Added Intellectual Coefficient (VAIC) comprising of Human Capital Efficiency (HCE), Structural Capital Efficiency (SCE), and Capital Employed Efficiency (CEE) on financial performance measured by Return On Asset (ROA). This research applied causalitas method. The data of this study were quarterly financial reports consisting of statement of financial position (balance sheet) and statement of profit and loss from 2013 to 2015 of Bank of Perkreditan Rakyat Syariah PNM Mentari Garut (BPRS PNM Mentari). The data were analyzed by using double linear regression. The result of data analysis revealed that Human Capital Efficiency has no influence on ROA. It also revealed that Structural Capital Efficiency exerts no influence on ROA. Furthermore, the analysis indicated that Capital Employed Efficiency significantly influenced ROA. Based on such findings, this research proposed a generic model that can be adopted by similar organizations in improving financial performance.

Abstract: A series of meiobenthic sampling were carried in Tioman Island coral area between July to September 2016 and from August until October 2017. Four species from three different genera were identified as family members of Miraciidae Dana, 1846: Robertgurneya smithi Hamond, 1973, Typhlamphiascus typhloides Sars G.O, 1911, Typhlamphiascus lutincola Soyer, 1963 and Delavalia clavus Wells & Rao, 1987. Miraciidae is known as a cosmopolitan family since they dominated all sediment layers and can be distinguished from other families due to the presence of duality ovisac, a rare feature met within harpacticoid. Both Typhlamphiascus were put under different group (1 and 2) due to presence of one or two setae on Enp-3 P4. Presence of spinules on the anterior surface of P1and P4; and spinules laterally align on P1-P4 endopod of Delavalia clavus showed the morphological adaptations of harpacticoid at different habitat. As a comparison with published marine harpacticoid reported from Malaysia, Robertgurneya smithi and Typhlamphiascus typhloides are newly recorded from Malaysian waters.
