Abstract: In order to meet the global demand and face the international competition it has become inevitable for the MNCs to send employees overseas and accomplish the targets. But one of the most important problems that MNCs are troubled with is that of expatriate failure and premature arrival. It is estimated that around 10 to 80 percent of the expatriates sent abroad return back home early. The main reason behind premature return happens to be the cultural diversity and the associated problems faced by the expatriate employees in the host country. Also the lack of proper training to adjust to the changed surroundings makes the employees return back quickly. The expatriate managers face many difficulties and challenges in different forms. They can handle these difficulties only when they are properly prepared for the same through sound cross cultural training. The study includes the qualitative in depth interview with a specific pattern of questionnaire approaching both the employees and their supervisors to understand the effectiveness of cross-cultural training programs on the performance and adjustment levels of the expatriates in the host country. It also focuses on the approaches in the cross-cultural training programs and on the skills needed for effective cross-cultural communication.

Abstract: Machine analysis of face detection is an interesting topic for study in Human-Computer Interaction. The existing studies show that discovering the position and scale of the face region is difficult due to significant illumination variation, noise and appearance variation in unconstrained scenarios. This paper suggests a method to detect the location of face area using recently developed YouTube Video face database. In this work, each frame is formulated by normalization technique and separated into overlapping blocks. The Gabor filter is tuned to extract the Gabor features from the individual blocks. The averaged Gabor features are manipulated and local binary pattern histogram features are extracted. The extracted patterns are passed to the classifier with training images for face region identification. Our experimental results on YouTube video face database exhibits promising results and demonstrate a significant performance improvement when compared to the existing techniques. Furthermore, our proposed work is uncaring to head poses and sturdy to variations in illumination, appearance and noisy images.

Abstract: Most of the cybercrime are originated from abuse of mobile phones. If there is a possibility to identify the persons who abuse mobile phones, then the task of Cybercrime, Information forensic and Defense department is getting easier. Here the authors proposed a technique to identify the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number, time stamp andgeographical location of the smartphone/mobile. Whenever the mobile camera is used the identity information such as IMEI number, timestamp and geolocation are embedded in the captured image automatically. For that, a mobile application was developed and deployed as a mobile service. By decoding the image, the embedded identity information of that mobile phone is revealed. Using this information it is easy to identify the person/s.

Abstract: Xylan has a wide application in different types of fields specifically in coating of pipelines and drug delivery systems. Xylan was extracted from cheap agricultural wastes such as sugarcane bagasse, corncobs, ricehulls, wheat husks by alkaline method. The presence of xylan was confirmed by identifying the functional groups by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy. The concentration of glucose was analyzed quantitatively by phenol sulphuric acid assay. It was found tha tminimum concentration of glucose was observed as present in the commercial xylan. The extracted xylan was characterized using Scanning Electron Microscopy to determine the morphology. The aim of the study is to compare the efficiency of extraction among various agro- wastes. This study reveals that maximum production of xylan was obtained in sugarcane bagasse when compared with corncobs, rice hulls and wheat husks. The maximum xylan recovery of 67.5% was found from sugarcane bagasse.

Abstract: The tractor and two wheeled trailer combination being the most popular load carrying vehicle of the Indian farms, is often susceptible to serious accidents due to lateral roll over. A simple PIC based lateral stability monitor was developed from basic principles for the tractor trailer combo. The system uses a commercial tilt sensor to detect the roll angle, a potentio-metric sensor to sense the turning radius and a hall effect sensor to measure the speed of travel. The control code calculates the lateral stability ratio and compares it to the stability limits. The code cautions the operator visually and audibly to take evasive action well before instability occurs. The monitor was tested in the field under various sloping terrains, turning speeds and payloads, and was found to function satisfactorily.

Abstract: In the current era of the transition of technology, there have been changes in the way purchases are made by physical stores, but nowadays consumers are increasingly using online purchases that can be made anywhere. However, limited attention was paid to study the behaviour of online purchases which mainly focuses on young consumers in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. Therefore, using a quantitative approach, the currentpreliminaryresearchwas aimed at evaluating the soundness and consistency of the instruments used to measure the risk perception factors of online buying behaviour in Kota Bharu. A total of 100 samples were analysed using SPSS statistical software version 24. Preceding the result, content and face validity, reliability, and normality data were checked by an expert. The result of the pilot study indicated that the measuring tools are consistent to be usedin this research, since rational normality has been proven by the data. The result from the current research presented complete backing for the propositionedgaugingtoolsto be applied in futuresupplementary studies.

Abstract: The plant kingdom serves as a reservoir of many organic compounds that have been used for many therapeutic purposes. Oxidative reaction plays major part of our life, cause production of reactive oxygen species. The aim of this study was to investigate the antioxidant activity of ethanol and ethyl acetate extract of two potential medicinal plants like Achyranthes aspera and Cassia auriculata. The crude extract of the plant was subjected to preliminary qualitative analysis to identify the major functional groups and phytochemical substances like alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolic compounds, carbohydrates, and proteins. Antioxidant activities of the plant extract was screened by free radical scavenging activity (DPPH). Dried leaf and stem powder of these medicinal plant was extracted and concentrated to yield a dry residue. Our findings indicate that Achyranthes aspera possess a significant antioxidant property followed by Cassia auriculata.

Abstract: Zinc oxide nanoparticles find its versatile application in medicine and industry when compared with other metal nanoparticles. The present study focuses on biogenic synthesis of Zinc Oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs) using lemon juice extract. Lemon juice extracts contains natural alkaloids and flavonoids which acts as reducing agent for the synthesis of nanoparticles. The synthesized zinc oxide nanoparticle is characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and FTIR. FTIR results showed the presence of functional groups which represents ZnONPs and reducing groups responsible for the reduction. The SEM observation reveals the synthesized ZnONPs are cube shaped. The obtained nanoparticle was further studied for toxicity using zebrafish embryos. Toxicity results suggested that the toxicity is dose dependent. Malformations in the embryos such as yolk sac edema and twisted tail were seen in higher concentrations. The antioxidant activity of the synthesized ZnONPs was carried out using DPPH assay. Results implied that the antioxidant activity was also concentration dependent.

Abstract: Mobile phones from people of different walks of life were examined through culture dependent based approach. Bacteria were isolated from the surface of the mobile phones. Various microbiological and biochemical tests such as Gram staining, citrate utilization test, urease test, TSI test, catalase test, methyl red test and indole test were performed for the isolated bacteria. This study highlights the health risk posed by the microbiota in the mobile phone’s surface.

Abstract: Hepatitis is a kind of inflammation which attacks the body’s organ known as liver. Hepatitis itself is divided into commonly known types namely Hepatitis A, B, and C. however, there exist other types of hepatitis called D, E, G which are not familiar. The understanding of patients regarding hepatitis is an obstacle in healing. The thing that is needed is to regulate diet and avoid foods that are prohibited (high sodium, high saturated fat, high sugar, and high protein). Hepatitis sufferers must pay attention to food patterns, must control foods consumed daily, must consume food with low salt, low saturated fat, low in sugar, and low in protein to reduce the risk of not worsening the condition of people with hepatitis. The decision making system determines the hepatitis food criterion using 5 criteria’s, namely the presence of high sodium, high saturated fat, high protein, high sugar, and high iron. While the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method is a decision making model which defines the multi-factor problems or complex multi criteria into a hierarchy. With hierarchy, a complex problem could be partitioned into smaller groups which are then ordered in a hierarchy to arrange the problem in a structural and systematic way.
